Seaview Learning Centre

"Excellence in Education and Training"

Seaview Learning Centre is part of Pendlebury Care Limited, and based in Fleetwood.  The main focus of Pendlebury Care Limited is of childcare with education and this has allowed us to establish a school as part of the company's operations.  We are a relatively new school, having been registered with OFSTED in December of 2008.  The registration as an Independent School allows us to offer the full national curriculum, as well as being flexible enough to allow a tailor made education package that follows the new 14-19 curriculum.

Whilst not always the case, it is normal that most Young People who join us at Seaview have been disaffected by the educational system for some time.  It is for this purpose that we provide an initial assessment procedure over the first two weeks that allows us to:

  1. Gain an understanding of their educational needs from day one.
  2. Organise a series of tests, which are non-threatening, allowing us to form a prognosis of their current educational ability.
  3. Gather all previous educational background history i.e. Educational Statements, PEPS, IEPS, Psychologists reports etc.
  4. Seek a curriculum that will be suitable to the needs of, and acceptable to, the Young Person.

From this we then provide:

  1. A comprehensive PEP, detailed with all current and previous information.
  2. If needed, an IEP that details the requirements of the Education Statement.
  3. A thorough report detailing exactly how, and what, we are going to teach the Young Person whilst in our care.
  4. School education reports.
  5. Accessibility to nationally recognised testing structures e.g. GCSE
  6. Education Information needed for statistical purposes e.g. attendance/absence figures
  7. Updates and reviews of the PEP and provision of an ‘at the date’ education report for LAC Reviews etc.

The education service we provide is quite rigorous in structure and comprehensive in practice.  It gives providers an up to date, and on going, analysis of the Young Person in our care and in most cases provides the starting point for an educational learning account.
